September 12 , 2008 - Lack of wireless headsets and video conferencing equipment holds back British workers

According to research from Manchester-based telecoms retailer Big Box Shop, over half of U.K businesses are using outdated communication equipment, which could have an adverse affect on worker productivity and efficiency.

Amongst those questioned there was a common theme, with respondents citing 2 major issues, namely, being restricted to their desk space by a lack of wireless headsets and the lack of access to video conferencing equipment.

64 per cent of respondents said that they felt that access to the latest cordless headset technology would help them to be more productive. The results revealed that increased freedom of movement would allow users to be more efficient and productive as they would not be confined to their desk.

The lack of video conferencing capabilities also emerged as a constraint on British workers. As well as enabling better communication between workers, video conferencing has been found to reduce travelling expenses and helps businesses to improve their green credentials.
