Phone for the elderly wins design award
Everyone forgets things from time to time. As we get older, this tends to happen more and more frequently.
With this in mind, Swedish Manufacturer Doro has a range of telephone equipment which has been designed to aid communication for the elderly and those with special needs.
Doro’s MemoryPlus, HearPlus and EasyPlus ranges have been hailed for their user-friendly features
The Doro Memory Plus 319ph has recently been awarded the prestigious French Janus award for the design of home electronics products for senior citizens.
Designed specifically for those who suffer from memory loss The Doro Memory Plus 319ph combines exceptional simplicity with functionality. The handset has large memory buttons and photos for recognition, as well as an ergonomic shape for ease of use and comfort.
This and the other products within Doro’s Care series have been approached with a unique design method, enabling those with impairments to easily use them.
Doro teamed up with Swedish design specialists Ergonomidesign to produce the phone. Designer Maria Benktzon, had this to say:
“When you are getting older you have additional demands on your products and especially the technical ones which are often regarded as difficult to use and understand.”
“Many elderly people today are digitally excluded. I believe that these new products will increase elderly people’s ability to communicate and use technical products to enhance the quality of their daily lives, which is why we are extra proud and happy to receive this award.”
Big Box Shop are exclusive suppliers of the Doro Memory Plus 319ph as part of their comprehensive range of disability and carer phones
Director Gary Basso had this to say: “The Doro Memory Plus 319ph is an excellent phone for the elderly. It complements the wide variety of telephone equipment we stock to cater for those with special needs. Big Box are proud to be one of the few UK suppliers of this product and to help elderly people all over the UK by giving them access to quality, user-friendly phones.”
